Taisho Book cabinet

Handmade from Japanese oak, this cabinet provides storage for a small library of books, plus a standing work surface with drawers for writing and drawing tools.

Subtly executed by Osaka craftsman Koichi Sakai, two cabinets become one through shadow and detail.

Concealed from view, sliding dovetail joints allow for timber movement, permitting the integration of elements with dissimilar timber grain directions.
